How to Build a Culture of Curiosity

According to the World Economic Forum, five years from now, over one-third of skills (35%) that are considered important in today’s workforce will have changed. Advanced robotics and autonomous transport, artificial intelligence and machine learning, advanced materials, biotechnology and genomics are some of the rapidly converging forces of tech that will shape organizations and business models. What skills will matter for someone to stay ahead of the workforce?

Complex Problem Solving, Critical Thinking and Creativity are the top three skills needed in the workplace by 2020. That makes sense too. Anything that is programmable can be done better faster and cheaper by robots. AI makes it possible to sift through mountains of data and find a match based on criteria. Humans will have to stay curious to stay ahead of the machines. What can organizations do to build a culture of curiosity? Why does curiosity matter even more? What can the individual do to be curious and stay curious?
